Virtus Bologna hosts Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in Round 4 of the 2026/27 EuroLeague regular season. Both teams are fighting for a place in the playoff zone, and the head-to-head meeting in Bologna could prove decisive for the standings going forward. The hosts are traditionally strong on their home court, while the Basque club is known for its ability to impose a battle on the road.

The history of head-to-head meetings between Virtus and Baskonia in the EuroLeague spans 12 games: the Italians have won 7, the Basques 5. Last season the teams traded home wins — Virtus prevailed in Bologna by a margin of +9, and Baskonia responded with a 6-point win in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The average scoring in these matchups is 164 points combined, which speaks to the high intensity of the attacks.

The teams' form ahead of this game raises questions for both coaching staffs. Virtus has picked up two wins in its last three EuroLeague rounds but has lost its key point guard to a hamstring injury — his participation in the game is in doubt. Baskonia comes into the match on a two-game losing streak, and the team's starting center will miss the game through suspension after picking up his fifth foul in the previous round. These personnel losses could significantly affect the rotation.

Worth watching is the battle on the boards and the pace of play. Virtus prefers a set offense with an emphasis on the paint, while Baskonia looks to push the tempo through fast breaks. The Virtus Bologna vs Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz prediction largely depends on whether the Italian team can impose its rhythm without its starting playmaker. The head-to-head statistics and the teams' form suggest the game will be tight, and the margin is unlikely to exceed 10 points. The key factor will be three-point shooting: in three of the last five head-to-head games, the winner was decided precisely by accuracy from beyond the arc.
