Manacor 0-5 Villarreal was never a contest on paper, and the scoreline confirmed the hierarchy. The visitors controlled the ball from the first whistle, and the final numbers explain the five-goal margin more clearly than any single moment. Villarreal built a 1.98 expected goals total against Manacor's 0.25, a gap that matches the score almost exactly.
Possession split 75-25 in Villarreal's favor, and the passing volume tells the same story. Villarreal completed 638 of 699 passes, while Manacor managed 160 from 217 attempts. The visitors pushed 434 passes into the opposition half and 173 into the final third, constantly moving Manacor's block. Manacor, by contrast, split its passing almost evenly between halves (119 in its own, 115 in Villarreal's), a sign of a team unable to sustain pressure in advanced areas.
The shooting data is the most damning. Villarreal took 12 shots on target with a 67% accuracy rate, created six big chances and 16 key passes, and fired 14 attempts from inside the penalty area. Manacor managed one shot on target from six attempts, a 17% accuracy rate, with zero big chances created and only three key passes. Manacor's goalkeeper made six saves; Villarreal's made one. The crossing numbers underline the difference in penetration: Villarreal completed four of 16 crosses, Manacor just one of 17.
Tactically, Villarreal's 21 successful dribbles from 35 attempts let it break Manacor's lines repeatedly, while Manacor completed one dribble from nine. Manacor's defensive effort was honest, with 19 successful tackles from 21 and 19 clearances, but the volume of defending told the story. Villarreal's 160 attacks against 52 show a team camped in the final third. Manacor's 57 failed passes and 40 backward passes reflect a side under constant pressure. For anyone tracking Manacor vs Villarreal lineups, key players and tactics, this was a lesson in how possession, chance creation and dribbling quality decide matches long before the final whistle.
