Just two minutes later, Bradley Barcola doubled the lead with his first goal of the night. Barcola struck again in the 37th minute to complete a rapid-fire first-half brace, sending Liverpool into the break with a comfortable cushion. Barcola completed his hat-trick in the 66th minute, restoring Liverpool's four-goal advantage. Lewis Koumas made it 6-1 in the 72nd minute, and it appeared the visitors would cruise to a lopsided victory. But LASK Linz had other ideas. Florian Flecker scored twice in quick succession, in the 74th and 77th minutes, to give the scoreline a more respectable look and cap a remarkable late flurry.
The game was not without its disciplinary moments. Daniel Elfadli of LASK Linz received a yellow card in the 80th minute for a late challenge, a reflection of the growing frustration and intensity as the home side pushed for further goals. Both teams made use of their benches, with Liverpool making substitutions in the 62nd, 73rd, and 85th minutes, while LASK Linz also rotated their squad throughout the second half.
The result impacts the league standings, with Liverpool claiming a crucial three points on the road. For LASK Linz, the defeat leaves them ruing a slow start that ultimately proved too costly, despite a brave second-half showing. This LASK Linz vs Liverpool preview promised goals, and the match delivered in abundance, with Barcola's hat-trick the standout individual performance.
